PROPERTY TAXES
Property taxes pay for vital public services like police, fire, and schools. But no one should pay property taxes on a value that is more than they could sell their house for, and everyone needs to pay their fair share.
Many big businesses got property taxes this year that were half what they paid last year, while residents saw their bills double and even triple as a result of the reassessment. This isn't fair.
Learn how to appeal your assessment and sign up for assistance at our Property Tax Workshop Zoom on March 11 at 6:30 PM. Sign up here to receive the link: Property Tax Workshop
Find Your Assessed Value
Find your property's assessed value by entering your street number and street name into this site: New Castle County Parcel Search. (Tip: include number and name of street only, not anything extra like North or Street or Ave)

Residents of the 5th District have been organizing for tax fairness since January 2025. We have made some progress, like getting the City to implement the Wilmington Homeowner Property Tax Abatement that was passed by City Council in 2023.
We still have a long way to go to get the County to take steps to find and fix the errors in the assessments. Your voice is needed!
